Reading Funk

I’ve been in a bit of a reading funk lately. If you’ve looked over at the right to my “currently reading” widget you’ll notice I keep starting books but haven’t made any significant progress on any of them. I’m not sure why. I just can’t seem to fully get into the books I’ve been reading. That’s embarrassing especially when one of the books is barely over 100 pages long!

Any suggestions on how to get out of a reading slump?

  1. Just don’t read for a bit! That’s what I did last year and it was what I needed, took almost two months off. This year when I started to struggle I re-read Harry Potter and it was DEFINITELY worth it. You could also just go off challenges/lists – those really put a damper on things sometimes. I’m sure it’ll work out – and we’ll still be here when you come back.

    1. I think that’s what I’m going to do. Put the challenges on hold and read what I want when I feel like it. Maybe I’ll catch up on some knitting 🙂

      Thanks Geoff!

      1. Oh that could be fun too! I started to learn how to knit and to crochet, but got bored. I’d rather just sit with a book 😀 (And definitely read some fun light stuff – I got The Art Forger from netgalley and it was a quick fun read based in Boston!)

  2. I know exactly how you feel!!!! Have to agree with Geoff. Just stop reading. Put all books and book things away for a while. Renew your energy and come back to it when you miss reading….because you will start to miss it. Sometimes you have to stop doing something you love so you can keep loving it. Good luck and keep us updated.

  3. I was going to say try something different but l can your taste is eclectic. don’t know what to suggest. Trying to ask you to be my friend on facebook but can’t see how to do it – unbelievable.

What do you think?
