2015 was a big and busy year for us. Below are a wrap up and highlights of the year. Keep an eye our for my Looking Ahead to 2016 post for goals, ideas, and plans for the new year!
Books
Number of books read: 39
Favorite book: Still Alice by Lisa Genova
I never got around to posting about the other books I read throughout the rest of the year, and honestly, so much time has gone by now that I don’t think I’d do a good job, so there won’t be any posts for the books after July.. whoops.

Number of items completed: 4 (13%)
Favorite: having a baby! (though it wasn’t technically on the posted list, it was on my personal list!) — favorite official, on-the-list item was buying a house.
Items achieved after birthday: 1 — I got a new tattoo shortly before Christmas. My husband and I had been talking about getting tattoos together and we decided on King and Queen chess pieces. I have the King and he has the Queen (so we always have each other — awww; or some of you may find that corny)
Life
Bought a House – so proud of us for getting this done! My husband is someone who, when he sets his mind to doing something, will make sure it happens. So when we started talking about a house seriously, he was all in. It’s one of the things I love about him. I love our house. From the first night it felt natural for us to be here. I can’t wait for all of the memories we’ll create in this house: holidays, birthday parties, family time, etc.
We Celebrated Our 1 Year Wedding Anniversary – we had a great dinner at Del Frisco’s steakhouse, one of our favorite places to eat!
Had a Baby – I won’t gush here as I’ve done some of that in my birth announcement post, but it’s still amazing that we have a baby. I’m so excited to discover his personality and watch him grow and develop, though I know the time is going to fly by. At time of posting, he is 1 day shy of 12 weeks. I seriously cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by. I’ll be returning to work in the new year, and while I’m excited to get back to work, I’m also going to miss being around my bug all the time! (He’ll be attending our on-site daycare 2 days/week, so at least I can visit him on those days!)
I Turned 30! – I had a nice dinner out with the hubs, and my first glass of wine since January. 🙂
It sounds like it was a wonderful year! Congratulations on your growing family. I’ve found parenting to be a lot of fun. I particularly love sharing my favorite childhood books with my kids.

Happy New Year to you too! Good luck with the transition back to work. It’s wonderful that your workplace has an on-site daycare.

Thanks. Yes, I’m really glad they set it up (just started in fall of 2013). They have an open door policy so I can go down to visit/feed him as my schedule allows.

That’s wonderful! Where I live, it’s rare to find workplaces that support parents. It’s nice to hear that there are some places that do it right. 🙂

oh that’s really disappointing! I do feel very fortunate that my workplace strongly supports the work-life balance.
